Advanced Copic Card Class - Boise

Here are two stamps that I thought I would never add to my collection. They are both by Loralie Designs. I swear I thought I would not like these, but after coloring them, they actually grew on me. Even my Aunt sat down and colored one and it turned out really nice especially for her first card she ever made!
Here they are... first one is Lady with Flowers, Second card is Dehlia (photo below) the third image is just an option of color choice for the lady with flowers.
We will be doing these two cards at Scrapper's & Stamper's Delight in Boise On Saturday June 12 from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
This is not a beginner class - however, like I said above my aunt did one as her very very first card and it turned out darn cute!

Don't forget about Copic Certification... there are still a few seats available for Boise, ID and Riverside, CA

Copic - Ethnic Skin, Black Hair and other hair combos

Whew - what a weekend. I had a blast at the Copic Certification in Las Vegas. I also taught two Copic technique classes at Scrappin' Time. We had a great turn out for all three events.

A popular question this week was "How do we color ethnic skin and black hair" Well, I thought it was time for me to attack these two subjects and why not do it together. I played for a few hours... yes it takes me hours to try something new too!

I tried a few different color combinations on this image from Greetings Farm (Rachel). Please pick your favorite and let me know what your favorite is out of these three ladies. I tried the light source coming from different directions, and found that the light shinning on her chin was my favorite, as the hair somewhat shades the left side of her face.

Left: This lady I chose to use E13, E18 an a tiny bit of E37 for her skin, and for her hair I chose C2, C5, C7 and C8. As normal. I used most of the lightest color, a little of the middle color and even less of the darkest color. I hope she looks light African American - that is what I was trying for.

Middle: This lady is very similar to the first one, however for her hair I added a bit of blue violet (BV04). blue sounds wierd in black hair but it worked! The skin was done with E51, E53, E55... it has a bit of a green tint to it than I am not sure I like. But a variety is what I was trying for and is what I got.

Right: This lady has a lighter skin tone. I would guess that it is more Asian than African American.

I am still working on a darker color combination for skin but I seem to prefer the lightness of the first and middle image.

HERE ARE A FEW ADDITIONAL HAIR COLOR COMBOS...

Yellow/Blonde: Y00, Y11, Y21
Orange/Blonde: Y11, Y21, YR61
Yellow/Blonde with brown: Y00, Y11, Y21 & add a bit of E33
Auburn/Brunette: E09, E19, E29
Cool Black: C1, C3, C5, C8 and a bit of lavender for fun! (adjust how much of each depending on how dark you want your image)
Light Brown: E30, E33, E35, (add E37 for a bit darker)
Warm Black: W1, W5, W8 - again adjusting how much of each on how dark you want image.

Hope you like these! Take care and I will be back with more favorite color combinations soon!

COPICS Ethnic Skin & Black Hair

Whew.. just got back from Las Vegas were I taught the Copic Certification class and two of my Copic technique classes at Scrappin' Time. We had lots of fun. The popular questions of the week were ... what colors do we use for ethnic skin and/or black hair.

These are not my speciality! However, after playing a bit I came up with these samples. I guess I would say PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! I will be doing so myself.. LOL.

Rowboat - Colored with Copics

Here is a beautiful and simple image to color. The stamp artist (Gary Robertson by Impression Obsession) did such a great job drawing the image that it is easy to color. May look intimidating but give it a try.

I added a bit of clear Atyou Spica glitter pen to the water which you probably can't see very good, but it added just enough shimmer to the water to add that extra something to the entire card.
Colors I used were: B01 water, B000 sky, E07 + R27 lighthouse, E30+ E33 + E37, clear Atyou Spica (on water), C1 bucket, E30 + E33 + E37 boat, sand, post, earth. used blender to soften color under boat, Paper is by Graphic 45 (of course my fav). Die was made by my dear friend Debbie on one of her fancy machines (Thanks Deb). Punches by Stampin Up. Please ignore the big glue blobs .. grrrr i didn't see it until now - oh well - proof that I make boo boos all the time. grrrowl....
Have a wonderful day! I will be in Vegas this weekend teaching consumer copic technique classes at Scrappin' Time and then teaching the Copic Certification on Saturday... I am hoping to find some time on Saturday before my class to lay in the sun by the pool and just veg out! Whew hew!
