My Private Pilot - Austin (and tip on upcoming blog candy)

Hi Everyone!
I just treated myself to a last minute trip to see my son Austin this weekend for MY BIRTHDAY! Whew hew... I have been doing the happy dance since I made that decision! I leave Friday morning. YIPPIE YIPPIE... I am in need of some hugs from my favorite man in the whole world. Dinner with my son and his girlfriend Amanda, what could be better (absolutely nothing, except to add in a few friends, which I will do!)

I love this image. It reminds me so much of Austin when he was a little boy. He would love to play in boxes and laundry baskets. I would pull him around the house making all sorts of race car and airplane noises... Now he is all grown up and Pilot's real airplanes, but these special memories are etched in my heart forever!

Image is LaLa Land's new Pilot Luka and can be found here! LaLaLand Crafts. I used a ton of colors coloring this image. Since I colored it in several different sittings, I am not sure I can even list them all. But I do want to point out that this image has highlights, shading and cast shadows (theme of Thursday's blog hop with awesome blog candy!).
colors: e000, E01, R22, R24, E09, YR21, YR24, E35, E37, E30, N1, N3, W1, W3, W5, E40, E44, E47, B00, B26, y32, y35 (I think that is all LOL).

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY - COPIC BLOG CANDY.
Be sure to return here on Thursday for Copic Blog Candy... Hint it has to do with Shading, highlighting and cast shadows! The whole Copic team is involved in this blog hop so you will have lots of chances to win an amazing prize.... sign up as a follower so you don't forget!

Stampendous Jumbo Hydrangea - Gotta Love it!

I Just love love love the new jumbo images by Stampendous! They are so fun to color and really pack some "wow" on every card! Just look at this interactive card. It is amazing and so easy for anyone to color.

Directions for Hydrangea Card.
Stamp: Jumbo Hydrangea CRS5005-c
Black Cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (folded)
Lilac Cardstock: 5 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Black Cardstock Label die cut (sizzix Big Shot Die)
Black Organdy Ribbon 6" long
Scrap paper for tag with one black brad

Copic Markers used:
Flowers: Violet BV000, BV02, BV04, and a bit of Pink R81 and a tiny bit of B000
Leaves: YG01, YG03, YG63
Flower Centers: Y32, Y35

coloring tip: Start with your lightest color, then gradually add your darker colors using less of each color as you get darker. I chose to not over blend my colors on this image to have a more mottled look, if you prefer a smoother look - blend your colors together using your lighter marker.

Directions:
1. Stamp image twice.
2. Color the first image and cut out. (without leaves)
3. Pop dot the image onto your card stock as shown.
4. Color three flowers and leaves on second image, then cut out
5. Pop dot extra layer of flowers on top of image for dimensional look then tuck leaves under the main image.
6. Stamp greeting on scrap paper and clip corners, and add a bit of ribbon or scrap black paper for a tag handle. Tuck this behind the image for fun interactive action!

Try it with other color combinations!
Pinks: R81, R83, R85
Golden Yellows: Y32, Y35, Y38
Slate Blue: B000, B91, B93, B95
Blue Green: BG0000, BG01, BG02

or try your own combo!

Stamps available at your local scrapbook store. If they are not on the shelf ask for them.

Coloring Watering Cans with Copics!

WATERING CAN ADDICTION!
Okay... I am addicted to watering cans lately! LOL... Here is the same imagethat Icoloredseveral different times and got a different look each time.
HOW TO: (copper)
1. Before I even starting with color, I added a bit of blender pen to the center of my watering can where I am going to want my highlight.
2 Then with my first color E02, I colored
the entire area that I wanted color. (LEAVING WHITE SPACE TO REMIND ME WHERE MY HIGHLIGHT IS).
3. Added my second color (E08) and feathered on top of my base color and bringing my second color out not as far as my first. Note I used less ink with my second color than I did with my first. I then blend these two colors together with my first color (E02).
4. Added my third color (E09) doing the same as in step two, yet using less of this color than my first or second color.
5. Now to add in a bit of shading, I added some
E39 along the edges.
6. I then used a bit of E000 to blend my white area out with my lightest color and smooth out any rough areas.

In my How To sample below, I did not blend my colors together to show you where I added each color. I would have blended as listed above in my
directions before adding my next darker color. You can do this with the Cool Grays or any colors that you want by following the instructions above and just substituting your color choices in order just as I did (lightest first)

This is a fun technique.. join me in one of my classes to have individual help in creating this beautiful image! It's fun!
