POWER POPPY CHALLENGE (PPFREEDOM)

LOVING... these images.... this week Marcella even has a few free digi's for you on her website where you can also see the other entries for this Power Poppy challenge.

The challenge was to use colors to represent the country we live in.  Of course I live in the amazing USA..... so I chose the traditional red/white/blue.  I always have to change things up a bit so I did two images.  One I added Yellow and the other I added a light brown.  I just can't get enough of these images!  They are so realistic and not cartoonie... if that's a word!  LOL.....  Both images are available in digi or clear stamps.  and the Let Freedom Ring saying is one of the free digi's she is offering on her site.

Happy Fourth of July! Stampendous Blog Candy!

My son's favorite holiday is Fourth of July!   So, I am always looking for cool stamps with fireworks or flags.  This House Mouse-Designs image is perfect for this year's celebration.

If you look at this flag closely, you will see that it has shape. Think of each shape as hills/valleys or a mountain.  The sides (valleys) of the flag are further away from the light source, the center (hill) of the flag is closer to the light source.  Therefore, I added my shading/darker colors in the valley areas, and the lighter/highlight colors on top of the hill.  I did the same with the faces, the center of their face is the "hill" and further away on their tiny faces would be the valleys.

Colors Used:
Copic:
Red R58, R29, R24, R22, R20
Blue B21, B24, B26
skin: E00, E000, E11, R20, R21
brown: E33, E35, E30
Gray: W1, W3, W5

Now for the Blog Candy - This beautiful stamp is a wonderful for any season, or celebration.  I will mail this stamp to one random winner.  Just leave a comment telling me your favorite thing about Fourth of July.  Anyone can play, I will pay postage anywhere within the USA.  Winner will be announced Thursday July 10.  So tell your friends to drop in.  Here is a picture of the prize and a sample of what I did with it!

Pretty power poppy!

A card I whipped up this morning.  It is amazing that I have found so much time to color for "ME" lately!  I am in love with these designs by Power Poppy so you might as well get used to seeing them here.....  They are just so realistic.......  Today's tip is to make sure remember to look at your layers in each flower.  Where the two petals meet, the back layer should be shadowed or colored with a darker color than the top layer.  You can see this in the poppy where I have the inside of the poppy darker than the outer petal.  I also added some veining in each of my flowers with a real light flick of my brush tip on each of the yellow flowers.  Today's layout features another banner/flag cut piece of patterned paper... It's my thing lately!  LOL... Enjoy your day!

Colors Used: Copics
Orange: YR18, Yr16, YR21, Y38
Yellow: Y32, Y35, YR24,
Brown: E33, E59, YR24
Green: YG03, YG63, YG13
Blue: BG000
PInk: RV55, RV53, blender

Power Poppy Challenge!

I am soooooooo IN LOVE with the new Power Poppy images by Marcella Hawley!  She is an amazing illustrator who draws her own stamp images... are these amazing or what?

This first image is Peonies... it is so fun to color and easy to get that dimensional look.  It's colored with copics (r81, R83, R85, R89, YG03, YG63 and YG67 with background airbrushed with E33).  Background paper is by Prima and dies are both by Spellbinders...

You guys gotta check out her stamps.. HERE you can get several of them in digi form (as I did), or in photopolymer clear (did that too!).

Then once you buy them you can also join the Challenge for the opportunity to win free stamps... oh yea! I am always game for that!
Check it out!
Have fun coloring,
